Now I need to start telling a story that was finished two years ago, when a naval mine, brought from the war by winter storms, exploded at the ბათუმი beach while I was carrying my groceries along it.
The Deserter Gardener is a story of crossing the Border—leaving the intimate stranger, the garden behind it—and meeting it anew on the other side. Written as auto-theory and prose-poem, it is a part of multi-genre "Compound Selves: the Border Protocols" project, which explores matrixial subjectivity, desire-methaphors, and uncognized others through short fiction, speculative theory, visual poems, etc.
